These are the murky brown waters of the River Plate. Andres' grandmother's apartment in Montevideo, where he lived for many years, overlooked this river, as wide as a bay.

Negrocan started life in 1998 as an amalgamation of two London bands: Sambatucada and Yacumenza (London). The aim was to create a backing band and support act for Uruguayan singer Lagrima Rios' appearance at the Surrey Hall in Stockwell, playing mainly Candombe standards.
The name was suggested by Ulises Garcia aka Güabiyu , and the band's performance was so successful that we decided to carry on.
Negrocan's third Album entitled Tres/Dos is available on Bandcamp. https://negrocan.bandcamp.com/
The band has undergone numerous personnel changes but the band nucleus is Liliana Chachian, Carlos Fuentes and myself.
