Negrocan started life in 1998 as an amalgamation of two London bands: Sambatucada and Yacumenza (London). The aim was to create a backing band and support act for Uruguayan singer Lagrima Rios' appearance at the Surrey Hall in Stockwell, playing mainly Candombe standards.
The name was suggested by Ulises Garcia aka Güabiyu , and the band's performance was so successful that we decided to carry on. These five tunes are from our third album which was released in Japan only.
They have been re-edited and remixed to make them more punchy.
It has undergone numerous personnel changes but the band nucleus is Liliana Chachian, Carlos Fuentes and myself.
